Śakti Krīdā - When Shiva Became Radha and Parvati Became Krishna

🎨 This is the art print version of the original 60x100 cm oil painting titled Śakti Krīdā – When Shiva Became Radha and Parvati Became Krishna, I depict a mystical narrative from the Mahabhagavata Purana, where Shiva and Parvati transcend form and gender to become Radha and Krishna—embodying divine love in reversed roles. This visual story explores the profound concept of śaktikrīdā, the cosmic play of the Supreme Goddess. 🌍 What makes this artwork unique is the merging of mythological symbolism with geographic and diplomatic meaning. On the left, Shiva and Parvati are set against a backdrop of Nyhavn, Denmark, cascading down into the Danish countryside. On the right, Radha and Krishna stand before Indian mountain ranges and hillside settlements, which gently flow into India’s lush tea plantations that visually blend into the Danish landscape below. 🚩 Parvati’s saree pallu seamlessly transforms into the Danish National Flag, while Krishna’s shawl becomes the Indian National Flag—symbolizing cultural fusion and mutual respect. 🪔 This year, Shri Krishna Janmashtami coincides with Indian Independence Day (August 15, 2025). To mark this rare convergence, the painting will be presented as a gift to the Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Denmark—celebrating not only the shared spiritual heritage but also the continued Green Strategic Partnership between India and Denmark. 🖌️ Through classical painting, calligraphy, and symbolic layering, this artwork is part of my ongoing journey to reimagine Sanātana Dharma traditions through a contemporary lens.
