Ardhanareeshwarar – This 80 x 60 cm oil on canvas painting depicts Ardhanareeshwarar. Ardha means “half” and “nare” or “nari” means woman, “eshwarar” refers to Lord Eashwara or Lord Shiva.

This is half-male half-female deity that demonstrates the importance of balance between masculine and feminine energies to complete the universe. This is also a symbol that shows that we accept one and all equally despite one's sexual orientation or racial background.

This 80 x 60 cm oil on canvas painting of Ardhanareeshwarar took about 30 hours and was created by Gomathi Siva Sankaran fully on camera. The 30 hour video recording was then converted into an advanced level tutorial so people who are inspired by this painting can work on the same on their own and re-create this painting.
